Movie Trailer ::: The Longshots

I know we have experienced Ice Cube stepping out of his usual with his
two parenting movies, 'Are we there yet' and the sequel 'are we done
yet'. However this one opens up to the more emotional and heart felt
side of his artistry that we remember from his old lyrical days.

This
is the route he needed to take to expand his production efforts as well
as his acting efforts. This receives a full heads up from me. I look
forward to seeing this one when it hits the theaters. With Tasha Smith
renown acting couch and actor in recent Tyler Perry films. Jill Marie
Jones, Keke Palmer, Glenn Plummer, Dash Mihok. With a dual effort by
rock rapper, Fred Durst behind the lens.

As sources state this
film is based on the true story of "Jasmine Plummer who, at the age of
eleven, became the first female to play in Pop Warner Football
tournament in its 56-year history."

Can Universal records save broken US record sales this fall?

It seems that Universal records may decide to jump into a fall lineup with long awaited albums from major artist. With strong labels under their belt I am sure they will pull off a marketing campaign with the likes of the 50 cent arrival.

How I recommend that sitting on your ass and waiting for real talent will be better. Just don't believe the hype just yet. I know a few artist on Myspace that need that type of push, and they have done the majority of the foot work already.

With Interscope,Geffen, A&M, under the wings of such a huge banner. Perhaps we will see something enormous such as the Dr. Dre or Eminem album, U2 , Black eyes peas, No Doubt and so on. But does that not look much like the same old thing. It is time they search for new talent and promote them just the same. No offense I like the artist mentioned, but they will sell. What about the new talent starving to work hard, and not these one hook wonders either. However I forgot that some record labels do not do the work they need to bring successful acts in. They rather sip bubbly and bone away at hot chicks and party till the sun come up. Is that not what it is these days?

Just my thought. So do you think they can save the industry and the lack luster chart sales?

Music Video Premiere :::: Flashing Lights V. 3

Kanye is the king of making a statement. However it is becoming apparent that he is pulling a Jesus Walks video stunt with more than one version of a single, visual display. I guess he wants to make the point and that he is doing. I love the who done it version, this is awesome and he is proving that he is a force to be reckoned with everyday. Lyrically it fits right in, and it allows those who are used to dumb down rap, to get it. I hope, because I have no faith in our educational system(s).

Industry Blips ::: Tyra Covers the New York Times Magazine

Tyra Banks is heating things up and it is not hard to see that her media empire is quickly becoming the subject of admiration. She has moved in the course of a few years into places that many take a life time to travel to, career wise. With the recent wave of popular concepts in reality television, it is by no surprise that such a solid concept of ANTM to balloon in to what it is today.

So Tyra is hitting covers and taking names, and sharing a few of her own. She has high ambitions, and I would say to be one of the sexiest to do it big like this. From what the buzz around the Internet has to say, it is being said that she considers her self a combination of Martha Stewart and Oprah rolled into one.

New York Times Staff Writer Lynn Hirschberg says in her Interview with Tyra:

“Her brand, like her trademark ‘tough but still smiling’ smile,
is consistent in all her shows: serious about the frivolous; empathetic
and empowering, and always, always aimed at young women, across all
races. It’s girly TV with a punch!"

Lupe hits gold and should be hitting diamond.

I walked into Target, asked the stock boy where can I get a copy of that Lupe Fiasco Album, "The cool." He said to me it is sold out and we will have more in at the end of the week. As he began to walk away and I followed suit. He shouted out to me, hey man, I know a mom and pop store you can pick up a copy. So in turn; I asked him where, he told me that I have to go into the heart of city and snatch up a copy. So I hoped into my car, drove for about 20 minutes. Once I arrived I ran in the store and shouted I need "The Cool". Once the store clerk realized I was not high or drunk, he asked what do I mean, I said it again. Then it dawned on him that I was asking for a copy of "The Cool," by Lupe Fiasco. He reached behind him, and plopped it on the counter. I quickly handed him my swipe, signed, and left the store ripping open the packaging, just to turn around say thank you to the clerk, and and asked if he would toss out the wrapping for me. He happily obliged.

Which leads me to tell you what has been going on with the music placed on that disc. The album has not stopped spinning since I purchased it. It reminds me when I bought my first copy of 'Slippery when wet,' by Bon Jovi, I just knew I had a classic on my hands, an album that is not about the day, but embodies the sounds of today. An album that will grow as you grow, one that is reminiscent of Hip Hop past, all the while visualizing Hip Hop of tomorrow. If Nas told Lupe one day, that Hip Hop was, dead, Lupe Quickly ran and earned a medical/science degree, and used the stem cells left behind, to bring it back as it was and better.

So I say all this to say, that Lupe Going gold is an honor, but I demand that it be known that it is not enough. It is obvious that Hip Hop Culture is dead, but Hip Hop is alive, fighting against this pseudo Hip Hop, that we call talent, and dome dress code that only shows one piece of what was offered in the first place. What it is at this point is regurgitated garbage, left over scraps of what was. Wanna be cool, wanna be Gangster, wanna-be Pimp Player. It is not about any one thing it is about what you make it, as long as it is real from the gut, and heart.

Lupe is a part of the saving grace of the music, forget the culture it is an illusion, the culture died way before Nas Spoke up. If I am wrong the culture is underground awaiting the mainstream pseudo Hip Hop, to annoy listeners enough before it reemerges victorious, once and for all time.

Lupe is Gold people, that is 500,000 plus smart people, 499,000 others apart from myself. Joined the movement of true music, these poser should not be making money. Long live true art.

Here is the first single off 'The Cool' - Dump It down.

I take it that many of those in generation of current day Hip Hop just do not utilize their minds for anything constructive. Such as the beauty of word play. True word play, not that I can add a slang to a slang, and nothing else wordplay. Get it together Hip Hop, or you will be commuting on the freeway to suicide.

Movie to reconsider ::: 'Kiss Kiss Bang Bang'

Where do you start when you have a film that is designed from raw creativity. You say abosultley nothing and just sit back, watch it and enjoy every entertaining moment. I have had the complete autonomy to watch this film more times than I can count. I have recomended it to friends and loved ones, that did not know the gem existed.

What we have here is a film constructed from ideas and put into play. I recommend it to add to your summer home viewing. If you do not watch it, then I suggest you go and rent something soft and funny, and get back to me later.

Wednesday Live ::: Erykah Badu - Kiss me(live)

Please people don't play this at the office. Hop on your Notebooks, hit the cafe, or wait till you get home. If you are big cheese, close the door and tighten your wig. We don't want you grooving out in your cubicle or your corner office, then blaming it on me.

My fellow gentleman and ladies please listen to the song. It is the groove that we do not bring home, once the home is made. Remember to take care of your home, and your spouse will be pleased. So stop whining and when you get off work, go home and give up that kiss.

Sydney Pollack forever...

Sydney Pollack will be remembered for being an owner of an eye that can capture the subtle moves or every artist that has ever crossed his lens. Although we will forever watch his films lets take a moment to remember the impact that they had on us, and on our emotions as we watched his works unfold before our eyes.

Sydney is an artist in his own right. A master of orchestrated concepts that molded themselves into what I like to call motion picture magic without all the tricks. Keep in mind he made reality film, on the big screen, by a conduit of fiction. It is what he was known for and what we will forever pattern ourselves after. May we we all take this moment to remember him and to work to reach the level of grace and honor in the industry, that he has commanded over the years.

Forever Sydney, you will never be forgotten. Your films are part of the reason I have a respect for well thought out work. A work that takes time and dedication, that allows each viewer to become a part of the experience. I do not know, as of yet how you did it, but I do know that one day, we should all be knowledgeable enough to come close.

May you Rest Well!
