Artist Spotlight Exclusive Interview :::: Brig Feltus

An artist that married her music with out knowing that the wedding took place, is one of the ways to describe Brig Feltus. All of the other explanations of this artist comes from sitting down and listening to her sing. While you soak up the vibes, you get these chills down your back, that refuse to stop there, they crawl back up then engulf your body, until you reach a euphoric state of being. Yeah that is Brig Feltus, a drug unlike any other.

However it does not matter what I say. What matters is that she will tell you her self. Don't just take my word for it. Brig and I had a thorough cyber session that will bring your spirit much closer to what she is offering.

I'm sitting here thinking that their are many individuals that are not yet hip to the sound. Not yet aware of what you are putting down. I myself have had the pleasure of stumbling into your subtle sounds of raw energy.

So to get this going I would like to share these questions with you.

What is music to you?

***music is sound that touches (or impacts) the spirit in any of a vast number of ways. i hear music in many things that often get ignored or taken for granted. for example the crickets bowing their songs outside my bedroom window in the warm night, just now...or the heightened tone of my lover's voice when he is aroused...or the hearty laughter of someone who comes from rural rooting...or the rap tap tap of someone at my door.

Why your brand of music?
***because it is real. it is truth. sometimes it is so true that it makes me cringe. sometimes i'm writing things that i feel but am not proud of. sometimes i'm writing things that are so beautiful that i am embarrassed. it's not about technicalities. modern musical technologies have removed the humanity from much of what is generated in the music "industry", causing it to become more industrial than artistic. my brand of music is artistic and sincerely expressed. you'll feel that when you listen to it.

What makes your sound so unique?
***i am a bit of a throwback when it comes to my personal musical preferences. i like the music that came before this generation of manufactured pop stars. when there was genius to behold in it. we all know that feeling when we experience an artistic expression that makes us aware of something magically bigger than ourselves. that is, for me what genius is. it's not a technical thing, it's a purity and impact-fulness. i don't know if i am genius. but i am for sure carrying a light in me that people can appreciate. in a day and age when that purity and impact-fulness is rare, i believe my music at very least encourages and inspires others to see those things, by reminding the listener of their humanity.
but maybe you wanted a less weighty answer? okay, then on the lighter side, my sound is unique because my musical influences are so broad and varied that you can't pin me down easily in terms of who i sound like. i sound very much like me. also, i am considered a rare bird in this business... a black woman writing and singing rock influenced, guitar driven, lyrically poetic songs. it's tricky because some white folk can't see me as rock and some black people can't see me as soul. as if i cannot be both. i am both, and more. i am jazz, rock, soul, blues, heavy metal, psychodelica, folk, Broadway show tune, baroque, r & b....
that's what makes me (and my music) unique, in my most honest state, i am a massive mixture of experiences.

Have you ever worked a 9 to 5? If so what did you do?
***yes, of course.
i was a makeup artist and hairstylist up until i was led to this journey a few years ago unexpectedly. that's a long story that is a good testament to the fact that there is such a thing as destiny.

What are your favorite things about personal relationships?
***
intimacy.
companionship.
safe harbor.
sex.
freedom to be.
making ritual and tradition.

What are the worst things about relationships?
****mortality is the hardest. imperfection and death.

How do you apply life to your music?
directly, quickly, without hesitation or editing.

What is the process to your making your music?
***i live then i write.
sometimes my songs start out as poetry. many of the songs on the album started out that way.
i don't play any instruments prolifically but i can work out chord progressions well enough to get a basic song structure.
i'll start putting together a progression then see what poem i have that fits the feel of it.
or sometimes when i collaborate, it is purely stream of consciousness, meaning i'll be writing about whatever is on my heart at that exact moment in time.

Last but not least.

Who would you like to work with in the industry?
****too many to name. i would love to work with some of the legends. i would have to really sit down and make you a huge list. if i start now, i will only disappoint myself because I'll leave someone off that i really want to work with badly.

Brig leaves the Cyber session with one last thought "Nicely delivered inquiries.
and thank you for your support." My imagination runs wild and I take it upon myself to picture this slow but subtly rhythmic walk, getting up from her computer to take a breath. I could not do anything but rejoice after capturing the time of this worldly artist who has so much to offer, tapping my sexuality and in the same essence my mind to ask more of myself, in terms of getting things done, but with my own essence and not in the terms of what other expect of me.

Al I can say is that Brig Feltus, will leave you wanting more out of everything around you, but with absolute surety, purity, and honest. Listening to " Once in a lifetime" you get it, or with "Take me There" you remember loves beautiful embrace. Her essence of R&B and Rock, is not the only fusion taking place here. There is something else that can and will be a hard task for any artist to match. Brig Feltus, has a class with no equals.

If ever you have had the pleasure of sitting at home with a glass of the best spirits, while sitting back and listening to great sound splashed rhythms, then you know. Now you are on your way to experiencing the utopia of music that is Brig Feltus, a great artist, married to her sound, such as a painting that was carefully and slowly ingrained against the canvas making a unique masterpiece. If your mind has not experienced that, then you don't know Brig and it is high time you get to know Brig Feltus. If you have, then you do know, and may just be the one that I saw smiling at me today.

If my word does not do it for you. Head over to her CD store and read the reviews for yourself and listen to samples of the songs.

From the bottom to the top ::: 3 SEWING MACHINES AND A MIC.....

A time existed when struggle appeared to be all you will ever have and that you had no way out. A time when you struggled and stayed in the same cesspool you fought to swim out of. That time is long gone! Although it may seem that you have to struggle and that you are struggling and are making close to no scratches against time and plan. You have to persevere and beat out all odds, you have to apply your dream, if you do not have one wake up and think very hard about what it was like when you were sleeping. Out of that you will be able to find your dream, your focus, your goals.

Jay-Z is the epitome of someone that has awaken from a slumber in the ghetto. To riches beyond imaginations. He has broken expectations, others and his own. He has broken down barriers once put up to stop someone like him. He continues to grow and seek out opportunity so that he can give back to the world around him.

All of this started with a Microphone, and a vision of rocking out stages across the city known as New York. Sure there were pitfalls and times it did not seem as if the artist known as Jay-Z would ever make it. You will face it to. However if you don't stop and stay focused you too, can take your dream far.

Remember folks with ambitions, tenacity, perseverance, goals, vision, and plan, anything you want will be yours. For Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, it started with the Microphone, moved into 3 sewing machines, then the rest is reality. History is being made, where will you leave your mark?

Here is a clip from Jay-Z on the couch with PBS personality Tavis Smiley:

Video ::: Obama is not taking Bush's comments sitting down...

With GWB running off at the mouth in front of foreign leaders, I get the understanding of why a patriot such as Obama would be upset. However I strongly disagree with America, sitting back and talking about it, instead of showing the same fury that Senator Obama displayed. Our current president has no clear plan of dealing with his mess, and now wants to destroy our potential to clean up the slaughter of American Life, that has been going on since 2001.

As Americans we should be fed up with the way GW handles things. You do not attack your senators in another country with a full on verbal assault. What ever happened to speaking to your team mates behind closed doors. When I last heard, we are all batting for the same team. However; it is becoming vividly apparent, that GW does not want America's salvation to be one of peace, but one of war.

There is nothing else for me to say. But I do know one thing, Senator Barack Obama will not take this one lying down and Do you want to?

Trailer ::: Hancock Second Trailer in HD ( This will b low the Box Office open and all my Chips are in )

Hancock (2008) HD Trailer 2

I am going to get out on the limb and say this movie is Will Smiths Alter Ego and that we will have the exceptional opportunity to see what Will Smith would have been like as a superhero.

I know I said it, time and time again, that this summer will have some record breaking blockbusters, but this trailer proves that this film will have the chance to take the action comedy to the next level. Bring the numbers I projected into reality and share something with us everyday folk. The thrill of Hollywood.

I will be back on this after its opening weekend in July. Until then Folks. Break it down and clear the confusion.

Artist Spotlight Exclusive Interview ::: Fusion Art Collective " When Art Speaks loud and Clear"

Yesterday I was entranced by art that spoke to my soul. Art that contained a rhythm you could dance to, cry to, build with, and share amongst those with eyes beyond the ones implanted on their faces. This enchantment was to my surprise as I have stated yesterday. My only mission in searching the web was to make some buddies and bring some more attention to what Enterpolics is all about. However it did not work out that way, but to my delight it worked out even better than I could have planned.

I led you to believe that the page went by the name Divine Madness, this was an error on my behalf, that was the tag line of the day, that I now may have painted them into using the phrase as a name. It worked in catching my attention. However from the art work that is displayed I am under the impression, that the art comes from a place far beyond pure talent, but and educated soul that sees the world through eyes that God wished we all utilized.

That impression that has been placed on me has led me to my first ever Cyber Interview. It remained simple with two questions. However I now see the world through a greater scope from its usual complexity, scaled down to a simplistic journey. So I had a Cyber chat with Wendy Nikolle of Fusion Art Collective, by way of e-mail and these are her words, raw and uncut.

The Interview

It is a pleasure to meet you acquaintance here.

Forgive me the oversight on the name {Divine Madness} that is a "Ooops" on my part. It is kind of catchy and perhaps it is a piece in the works.

Thank you for checking out the blog and I appreciate you giving me the go ahead on featuring the full website.

Since I want to do this right and to your benefit. Allow me a brief synopsis on the site and answer these two questions.

Why art?

And

What about this particular form of art captivates you?

The response:

Why art ??
Unlike society today where everything has it’s category or place in life, Art paints the appearance of things, good or bad, without having to put it into a category of social correctiveness. It is a powerful vehicle for communication and way to express visions that are beyond the capacity of words and a medium for cultural enlightenment. Art is something that makes us more well-rounded as humans and is always subjective. For all, art stimulates different parts of our brains to fill us with a flush of emotions. Weather it be to laugh, cry, or even riot with anger or confusion in a single picture. It is the highest aspiration of the human spirit and everyone should have the opportunity to experience it. Exposing art to everyone platforms the next generation of cultural innovators.

What about this particular form of art captivates you?
Although I have experimented with multiple mediums of art, I mostly chose to paint because it is the most forgiving and versatile when it comes to technical abilities. I am able to use it as an emotional "vent" and that alone makes me a better person.

With that being stated, I realized that this artist and her collective has something to offer art as a whole. Showing us capability, letting us know, that if we all had to our way of providing our art in its purest form, we would have the ability to master the perception of what we are offering to the audience.

This has been a lesson and less about making friends, as time slips by, it has become more about that mark that has a personal signature that can not be erased if you scribbled it from the heart. The soul is a terrible thing to waste and I have learned that the Fusion Art Collective is not wasting one bit of the soul. The spirit of these artist shine bright in their paintings, photography, and poetry, and that there is truth beyond words and recognition.

Trailer Teaser :::: Much kissing going on here between Scarlett Johansson and Penelope Cruz in the new Woody Allen Film

Wow is all I have to say. Woody Allen has stepped out of his box and into a burning pit of madness and lust. Wait, he has been this way, you know how the old Woody gets down. If you married your step daughter/adopted child you must have a little bit of the old Freak Jones in you.

Well the new film is name Vicky Christina Barcelona and it looks like it will be something interesting for true artist/film goers, all ten of us. I will be there will you?

Artist Spotlight ::: Divine Madness

I was stumbling around the internet, then I decided to hop on myspace and make a few buddies and get on with my day. So I did that. However it was more of trip down a path of good findings today. Far different than I thought it would be. You know what it is like you make a few friends and you see what you can offer them and what they can offer you and you grow from there. In this case I was offered far more than I thought I would get.

So what am I speaking of, you say. It is exceptional art. This art work has no boundaries and it is a part of a great collective of individuals that see the world threw clear visions.

I have the pleasure of now saying this is a myspace buddy I will collect myself with.

Here is the Myspace to connect with the artist. If I get permission to broadcast the actual website I will be back with more.

Until then!

Peace and Focus unto you!

Busted ::: Dennis Farina gun in LAX

$35,000 Publicity if you movie needs the push! Get busted with a pistol in LAX

Here is what old Dennis had to say about the incident:

"I apologize to anyone and everyone that I have caused any
embarrassment or inconvenience to," the 64-year-old actor said in a
statement. "It is my own stupidity to find myself in this embarrassing
situation."

Apparently the weapon that was found on the guy was loaded as well so when this was discovered they up his charged and his bail went up right along with it. Ok he is an ex cop running around with an unregistered weapon. Either he is going senile or we need to rethink our marketing strategies America.
Personally I think that he will get a slap on the wrist for his ex cop status.

Politcal QUOTE OF THE DAY :::: President Peres

"I think Bush did something very courageous, and that was to topple Saddam Hussein.
Imagine today that we would have in the Middle East both Ahmadinejad
and Saddam Hussein. Bush [made] a decision and should be given credit
for it. The problem with the Europeans is, they are right but they are
always late. And here to be late is to be wrong. To be right means to
be on time. Would they have been right on Hitler, the whole [of] Europe would look different."

Weekend Box Office :::: May 9-11 2008 (IRON MAN REIGNS SUPREME)

I was over at the Invisible-Cinema, and The Invisible Woman posted the numbers for this past weekend box office. Something of the norm, however it was the comments that inspired my thoughts on this past weekend and American Cinema overall. I am beginning to see a pattern in movies that is far different that of the past.

So here is what I had to say in response to some of the comments:

As far as this past weekend in film, I have much to say, but will keep it short. With two possibilities.

American film audiences are becoming smarter, and are realizing that they will own or purchase the movie if it is of suitable home viewing. They have become complacent in the home video market and spend more time now creating there in home theater systems.

Or

Speed racer sucks so much that it does not matter what it does oversees, it is a piece of garbage hyped up and over worked. Of course they are going to be happy to see the live action version in its native creative atmosphere, but here in the US we require darker not these bright colors. Americans do not like colorized action, we prefer the dark near dramatic variety.

Just an opinion.

I would like to get more feedback and I will fill in the blanks as I keep in eye on Invisible Cinema on this one.

Quotable ::: Kim KArdashian on Cellulite

“I work out extremely hard and am happy with my shape... cellulite, not so much! Some things are just genetic and no matter how much working out you do, it just doesn't help! LOL... What girl doesn't have a little bit of cellulite. And who wants it, anyway!"

I over heard some guy say this about the situation this morning:

"Tell Paris to go eat something, the stick figure era is over and done with. It is about being what you are." Then he goes on to shout into the air, "Kim I love you babe and you have nothing to be ashamed of, just keep it tight."

Randon act of stupidity/Fame Seeker ::: Soulja Girl Arrested

This one was all to real and reality was its name. It seems that Hip Hop is not the blame, for this girls issues. However she did use the soulja boy song to terrorize an elderly lady on an Atlanta train this past week.

The now known Soulja Girl has been arrested and is being held in an Atlanta county jail. Her family members has been in contact with the authority and is speaking up for the young teenage female.

Here is what I found as stated on the rumor page on All Hip Hop:

According to the Ryan Cameron show on V103 in Atlanta. Soulja girl has been arrested and is in Dekalb County Jail. Her sister called into the show and stated that she has bi polar disorder. [Illseed note to sis: get her some help!]

Breaker Breaker ::: Suge Knight Gets Lumped up !!!!!

Suge is the one on the ground in Yellow.

Whoa ...I did not think that I would be writing that headline anytime soon. Who am I kidding I thought I would have written that one long time ago, way before the inception of this blog. SUGE KNIGHT GOT KNOCKED THE (&$#@ OUT !!!!!

There is not much you can say to this, it is just one of those situations, with one of those people that just make you sit back and wonder, what is really going on. Suge Knight has been entertainments menace for decades, from Vanilla ice to the whole Death Row roster. Now someone felt they needed to talk to the man. I guess the only questions that are of real concern is; who did it and why.

On All Hip Hop, they just have the feeling that Dr. Dre and Snoop are sitting back and have a laugh or two over this one. Heck I even bet Vanilla Ice is feeling some relief on this one as well.

Whatever the case may be, I guess you just need to see for your self.
