BlueRay has Warner Bros behind them.

Waner Bros, one of the largest producers of home entertainment in the country has decided that the Blue Ray format will be best to produce the home movies
on. Warner Bros, will no longer produce movies in HD as they have in the past. At this point, they feel that it makes no sense to confuse the consumer any further and that the Blue Ray can store larger quantities of information over the HD format, if formatted correctly.
