Movie to reconsider ::: Peaceful Warrior
If ever there would be a film that you can walk away feeling differently than when you arrived at the theater, then that movie has done more than entertain you. The opportunity to make art fulfill its true purpose has been taken by this film. An opportunity to enlighten thoughts beyond the level of mediocrity.
The film is based on the book " Way of the peaceful warrior."
You must look past the budget of the film or the lack of art direction and focus on the principle of the film. A film that seems all to reminiscent of the Karate Kid or the many Jean Claude Van Dam Films, you will be able to extract from this film a sense of well being.
The character Socrates played by Nick Nolte is a great re-entry role for the incognito actor, is sort of a mystery in this film and received his name from the lead character played by Scott Mechlowicz. The lead character is a gymnast who is not sure of him self, but seems to weave through all that insecurity on the gym floor, to prove who he is, as an athlete, and end up falling short. He gets into an accident that takes away from him the one thing that makes him. From that point he must learn not to give up, but to take his life to the next level spiritually. Although he seeks to give up, he has the help of his inner mind or so it seems in the character Socrates and the help of Amy Smart's Character who keeps him focused on the positives of the future.
Here are a few Quotes from the Film that may convince you to have the experience:
A warrior is not about perfection or victory or invulnerability, he's about absolute vulnerability thats the only true courage. A warrior act's only a fool reacts. There is no starting or stopping only doing. A warrior is does not give up what he loves - he finds the love is what he does.
If ever your life consisted of a time when you could not make the next move, because something that you hold close and rely on has been taken away from you. This is the movie for you. If you are in a rut and seek to dig out of that rut this is the movie for you. If you know someone who carry a burden that weighs more than it is worth this is the movie for them.
This film stars Scott Mechlowicz, Nick Nolte, Amy Smart. Directed by Victor Salva
