Movie to Reconsider :: The Other Brother

Mekhi Phifer is one hardworking thespian. Once he got on he did not stop, he kept his momentum by attacking everything that he wanted to and with force and vigor. What is most important to aknowledge here is the simple fact that this film was a far stretch from the characters that we expected of him. A Nerdy Brother with no understaning of what to do with a women. For me it was  step  back and I totally got is in terms of his work and his career.

I want everyone to talk about this film, as it should be talked about. Heck I want to here someone mention it at least. This is one of those under the radar gems that we so soon forget because it was not big enough in terms of budget, the script may have had its holes but doesnt everything. Art is not perfection it is an account of life. These days we are looking for art so that we can immitate is in our realities. Well if this is the case contrite as this may sound this film offers you an opportunity to immulate and apply no levels to your character.

So start the search and head out and get your hands on the other brother. Ladies I am sure it would allow you a look at the guys from a different perspective while getting a laugh out of it.

Why the title Puff Puff Pass?

What I see here is a case of B-movie-logic, and a marketing team that did not believe in the movie enough to name it better than this. Aiming for the college slacker or high school drop-out is something that they've accomplished. Which I am sure was the aim.

Now you must be asking yourself then why did you see the movie Kem? I wanted such a film to watch. I needed something that looked so dumb that it contained nothing realistic about life in any way. I needed the slacker movie. A long week of toiling through paperwork and briefs, at some point in time you need to take a look back and call it a day, and enjoy your weekend.

Puff Puff Pass allowed me to do that. So my only beef with this film is that I think that is should have been named Slackers and smoke, it would have been better than Puff Puff Pass.

I would like to give a thanks to Mekhi Phifer for this production and directorial effort. Mekhi Phifer is better known for his is role as Dr. Gregory Pratt, on televisions ER. With this production credit under his belt along with two other movies 'This Christmas', and 'Noras Hair Salon 2'. I think that bad names seems to only come once. So we may be on the right track. However if you take a look at IMDB, the marketing geared towards the US assumes our slacker generation dumber than that of the UK. Over in the UK they have the name ' Living High', which sound like a far better title. It even adds an element that will will peak your curiosity. So my questons remains. Why The Title? Which should be, why this title in the US.

*Also when you see the movie, also take note as to the other misleading elements on the cover that did not take place in this film.

** This will be a classic antic filled film for sure.

Before you answer any of my questions, enjoy these clips. I think Terry Crews is the funniest and has a long career ahead of him.

Mekhi Phifer - Clip from the movie "Head Games"

The Follwing movie is the film that brought us such a natural. I do not know if many remember but this guy was just looking for a job. Hopped into a booth for instant photos, passed it off to Spike Lee, and the rest was History. Now that is what the American Dream is all about.

A trade off but a good one....for me.

It seems that one of my favorite actors in Hollywood will be leaving (Mekhi Phifer), and will be replaced by one of my favorite actresses. Apparently for the last few weeks there has been this buzz that, Angela Bassett will throw on some scrubs and join the cast of ER for its final season on air.

There seems to be many actors making the move to Television. Perhaps it is the lucrative nature of its vehicle if you can turn what ever you take on into a popular move. Showcasing your star power. It worked for Glenn Close, Patrick Dempsey, and a host of others. Plus it allows you bring your star back out, and allow it to shine amongst those who would not have otherwise known you.

Don't fret just like all of our big screen actors who hit the small screen. Angela is working hard around the clock and you will see her in the upcoming film Notorious and followed by Nothing but the truth, just to turn around and heat up the screen with Toussaint.

So we are looking at a full plate here. If she does this with grace and with the same drive she has in her films in the past. I am sure that joining the cast of ER will be beneficial to all parties involved and will make this one of the best show closing season ever seen on Television. Also allowing Angela Bassett that publicity she deserves, so that we can see the, "Whats Love got to do with "buzz, that she had when she worked with Laurence Fishburne in the Tina and Ike Biopic.

We will see and I look forward to this season of ER and I am sure that I will not be disappointed.
What about you?
