Eddie Murphy/Rick James - Party All The Time and his career Since

After this song played on the radio two decades ago, I figured Eddie Murphy would be the biggest star the world has ever seen. This was not to far from true, he was unstoppable, but I realized after this record dropped, there was a decline in Eddie's art. With a few lack luster films, he'd barely maintained that impact he once made on the world.

Keep in these films in mind; The Distinguished Gentleman, Beverly Hills Cop 3 when I speak of this situation a great comedian has taken on. Understanding that Eddie Murphy has children, and needed to clean up his image a bit. However this was a detriment to his art. I do not want to sound critical, he has done a great job with Life, Nutty Professor 1&2, Harlem Nights, Boomerang, Coming to America, the first two Beverly Hills Cop films, 48 hours, another 48 hours, Trading places, and Raw. Once you take a look into when these films were produced, you will see a gap in creativity, and it is as if he is the same guy in each film.

I would like to see Eddie, take on more roles where he applies more drama, the type of character performances that he displayed in Dream-girls. I think he has more in him, and now that he has the press all over his every move now, this would be a great time to pick or produce his own film, he has a talented brother in Charlie Murphy and I think the two together would work great, but they have to dig deep into their hearts to give us an authentic performance.
