Movie to reconsider ::: Hoodlum
A gangster thriller with a bit of style,taste, and a grace that is eloquently defined. Touching all the main points of Sun Tzu while bringing you into the world of Ellsworth 'Bumpy' Johnson, a Harlem Racketeer, running numbers in the 1930's. Bumpy Locks Horns with Dutch Shultz( Tim Roth) and Lucky Luciano (Andy Garcia). Bumpy tries to carve out his own niche in Harlem, during an era of Prohibition Booze and numbers.
Hoodlum takes time to tell the story in a well crafted acting event, in which Laurence Fishburne gives a performance of a life time, as the calculated, but cool headed, Bumpy Johnson. Although it does not build up to the emotional punch that you would like in a gangster thriller, it provides a look into history, and a scope as to who mentored Frank Lucas, Lead character in the American Gangster Saga, where Clarence Williams III picked up the Character of Bumpy Johnson in his ripe old age.
Hoodlum also stars, Chi McBride, Clarence Williams III, Cicely Tyson, Richard Bradford, William Atherton, Loretta Devine, Queen Latifah, Vanessa Williams
Also See The Cotton Club with Richard Gere,Where the character Bumpy Rhodes was introduced, which is a take on Bumpy Johnson ( actual Harlem Gangster), in which Laurence Fishburne played and introduced the character, in this 1984 film, byu Freancis Ford Copolla.

Hey there,
You've got a really nice site here. I love the visual feast - Nice Photos! To answer your question; Anyone who knows anything about the "Real Bumpy Johnson" knows that he was big into education. He constantly preached about it. He hoped to create a better education system in Harlem. But this was never done.
I've faved you on Technorati - Let me know if I'm the winner of the contest.

By the way, really nice spin on the "Hoodlum" movie. I'll have to go back and watch that again. I enjoyed it the first two times but it's been a few years since I've seen it.
It seems as if you are the only one aware of this contest. So far we are working with something. I will post the contest on the side bar and create some competition for you.
Thanks for taking part in this contest. I look forward to awarding a winner.
